Lil’ Witty was featured in a promo video for Biscuits & Bath in New York City. Now if only I could have stayed out of it, this video would have been perfect! Really though, Biscuits & Bath is great and we highly recommend them to anyone with a pooch in the city. Enjoy!

Our little man, Witty. Miniature Schnauzer Photograph
It will be a year today that we first picked up our little schnauzer from Darien, Connecticut. He traveled all the way from Indiana in a van filled with a dozen other soon-to-be adopted pups rescued from puppy mills across the midwest.
He was matted, stinky, scared and sick. But the moment we picked him up, he held on as if he’d never let go – as if he was saved. And anyone who’s met our lil’ man can attest, he still has yet to let go.
Here’s to many more years with our little schnauzer, Witty!

Witty, our little Santa Monica Schnauzer, heads home tomorrow and… he’s not very happy about it.
Okay, “goes to Hollywood” is a bit misleading, but Mr. Witty, our miniature schnauzer, is on his way to LA tomorrow. It’s been too long since he’s graced these pages, but I suppose it’s never too late to say hello.

Sammy and I have been busy. We’ve been consumed by work, travel, traveling-work, and the infrequent moments in between. And while Mr. Whittamore has been with us for nearly all of it (our one trip without him is another post entirely), we’re shamefully aware of the neglect his blog has endured in the process.
But with or without a steady blog, nothing can change the fact that this fur ball has become a major part of this family and our most beloved muse. Happy birthday Mr. Witty! (Yeah, I just read that and realize I wished a dog happy birthday.)
While we have slipped a bit on bringing Witty’s excursions your way on a weekly basis, that doesn’t mean he’s been quiet. Especially now that he’s rocking a custom made bow tie and matching leash made by the folks at Silly Buddy.
He’s a stud and a lil’ fancy-pants when it wears it, but given its swagger, he’s not allowed to wear it when he’s anywhere near food, mud, water, other dogs or pretty much anything that doesn’t involve him lying around the house or impressing his girlfriend, Lola. Last month, we left for Long Island to celebrate Sammy’s birthday while Witty embarked on his first overnight stay at Biscuits and Bath. If the picture below tells you anything, it should at least say this… it wasn’t easy.
It was only two nights. We could handle that. I mean, contrary to his keen affection for us and ours to him (afterall, he does have a blog), he’s pretty independent and we figured it’d be easy. We’d simply drop him off, go have fun, and come back as if nothing happened. Well, that held up for the first few minutes – that is until we turned away and took this photo (above). At that point, all bets were off. This was definitely the hardest part.
Luckily though, our lil’ man’s first foray into overnight boarding was much harder on us than it was for him. It helped that he goes to playgroup here. He was comfortable with the place and the staff and according to them, he did swimmingly.
Much like a little baby – human baby – we packed a few toys, a towel (with our scent, as requested), and his food and snacks. We had direct access to the staff and someone was on hand with the dogs 24/7. That helped. We knew he was in good hands and we had the time of our lives while he was. But no amount of wine tasting or beach-side hangouts could keep us from wanting to run home and swipe him away from his first overnight extravaganza.
He knows we are leaving. But he doesn’t know this will be his first overnight boarding experience.
